Phil Askham

Having retired in 2012 I wanted to break free of the constraints of academic writing. To fill those long bleak winter evenings, no longer able to resort to work, I started writing up my walking logs and this grew into a series of memoirs. I joined Writers in the Peak a couple of years ago and this encouraged me to try different genres. At the same time I started to explore poetry in a more serious way and this is what I enjoy most (but maybe it’s just easier than prose fiction, I don’t do plots you see). I write for fun and therapy.
