Self Publishing with Lulu.Com – Wednesday 30th September 2015

This workshop will take you through the process of preparing your work for publication, setting up an account with Lulu and uploading your copy and cover.

At the end of the workshop it is expected that you will have gained enough knowledge to produce a book of your work on this self-publishing website. A basic understanding of computers is required.

Inspiration for poetry with Gary Carr – Saturday 21st November 2015

Gary will concentrate on generating ideas and writing them up, touching on the writers’ notebook, use of the senses, randomising the flow of ideas along with a few thoughts on beating writers’ block.

The workshop would be suitable for beginners, but also offers an insight into a couple of techniques that might be interesting to more experienced writers struggling to find a way forward with ideas.

The first of two stand-alone workshops focussing on character: Exploring conflict and detail to create interesting characters.

Crime Writing with Sarah Ward – Saturday 19th March 2016

Do you want to write a page turner? This workshop will look at the essential elements of crime writing starting with the building blocks of plot, setting and character. We’ll also look at the importance of pace and tension and creating a distinctive narrative voice. With practical exercises, the workshop is suitable for beginners and more experienced writers.
